Community Welcomes Opening of New Fire Station

The original Station 24 was built in 1968 at 2525 Aborn Road and has stood witness to countless calls for service, including emergency medical situations, auto accidents, structure and wildland fires. After serving more three decades as home to San José’s Bravest the old fire house has finally been replaced by a state of the art facility at the corner of Yerba Buena Road and Silver Creek Road on the city’s southeast side.
San José Mayor Chuck Reed, council member
Rose Herrera and Fire Chief Ruben Torres cut the
ceremonial ribbon marking the opening of the new station.
The new station will be home to Engine 24 and Brush Patrol 24 serving the Ashbridge, Silver Creek, Dovehill, Ramblewood, and Windmill Springs neighborhoods, and continuing the San José Fire Departments commitment to providing all risk emergency services.
