At 11:06 am San Jose Fire Department responded to a gas rupture at 2933 Alum Rock Ave. This is the site of Fire Station #2 which in the process of being rebuilt. Initial reports put the gas line at 2", however it was later determined that the gas line was 1/2". Fire crews arrived on scene within 5 minutes, secured the area and deployed water to prevent static electricity as an ignition source. PG&E arrived and capped the leak. During the event, residents were asked to shelter in place and Alum Rock Ave. was closed between Capitol Ave. and White Rd. The event was declared under control at 12:30 pm and the street was re- opened to traffic. There were no injuries reported.
