Trace Elementry School Fire

On July 5th in the early morning multiple calls came into communications reporting a school on fire. Engine Company 7 was the first unit on scene and reported heavy fire conditions in the main part of the school. A 2nd and 3rd alarm were quickly requested. Early Thermal Imaging Camera readings indicated temperatures of 1000 degrees at the ceiling level. The fire which had a good head start quickly spread to 80% of the building. Four ladder towers were put in place along with several deck guns to contain and control this blaze. Several portable classroom's were saved by the quick acting firefighters who provided structure protection and the new two story building was spared.
