Civilian Rescued after Colliding
with VTA Bus

On January 20, 2007, just before 3:00 p.m., San Jose Firefighters responded to multiple reports of a vehicle collision between a Valley Transportation Authority Bus and a passenger vehicle. Reporting parties placed the incident on Senter Road near Diamond Heights Drive.

Upon arrival Firefighters from Station 18 immediately determined the driver of a minivan was trapped and required extrication. Engine Company 18 Firefighters deployed foam lines to protect the victim and the rescuers from any possible fire. Truck Company 18 used several rescue tools including the “Jaws of life” to extricate the victim.

The sole patient suffered multiple trauma injuries, was treated on scene by San Jose Fire Department personnel and transported to a local hospital by American Medical Response.
