Level 1 Activation of the S.C. County
EMS Multi-Patient-Management-Plan

On Sunday, March 25, 2007 at 10:22 AM, 4 Companies of San Jose Firefighters, 1 SJFD Rescue Medic Ambulance, 1 EMS Captain and 2 Battalion Chief Officers, under the direction of Battalion Chief Stewart McGehee, responded to a multiple vehicle accident on SB 880 South of Brokaw Rd. Upon arrival Firefighters quickly discovered a silver Honda SUV on the center divide up against the "K-Rail", a full size Dodge Pick-Up on its side off the shoulder and an Audi sedan down the embankment. Chief McGehee requested a Level One activation of the Santa Clara County EMS Multi-Patient-Management-Plan. This request automatically dispatched four American Medical Response (AMR) Ambulances and a Supervisor to the scene. Firefighters came to the immediate medical aid of seven patients that were injured as a result of the vehicle collision. AMR transported 5 patients to local trauma centers and two patients refused transport.

SJFD Firefighters and AMR personnel worked in cooperation with the California Highway Patrol to successfully manage the incident.
