Firefighters tackle two-alarm house fire

On Monday, October 21 at 3:22 A.M., firefighters responded to a report of a fire in a one story dwelling in the 700 block of South Third Street. The crew of first due Engine 3 arrived on scene and reported significant smoke showing from the rear of the structure. Upon further investigation firefighters discovered a working fire on both the exterior and interior of the home.

The crew of Engine 3 stretched a hose line through the front door and initiated fire attack, while firefighters from Truck Company 1 laddered the structure and completed vertical ventilation. The bulk of the fire was knocked down by 3:37 A.M. with the incident being declared under control at 5:09 A.M.
