Fire Department Members Help Construct Playground

Volunteers prepare the site for new playground.
San José Firefighters recently teamed with over 200 volunteers to assist in the building of a new playground, garden, and outdoor classroom at Aptitud Community Academy at Goss, an elementary school in the Alum Rock Union Elementary School District in East San José.

San José Firefighters install playground equipment.
With guidance from KaBOOM!, a national non-profit seeking to provide easily accessible play spaces for children nationwide, firefighters from Stations 2, 16, and 21, as well as active and retired members from throughout the department, came together to make the new playground a reality.

Participation of San José Firefighters in this construction effort is another example of how members of the department work to continually support the neighborhoods and community they strive to serve and protect.
