Firefighters tackle latest in series of vegetation fires

On Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 2:49 PM, units of the San Jose Fire Department responded to the area of East Brokaw Road and Interstate 880 for reports of a vegetation fire along the Coyote Creek.

As firefighters arrived at the scene additional resources were requested to assist with containment of the fire and overhaul operations. Gusty afternoon winds drove the fire south through heavy vegetation, but firefighters were able to limit the spread of the flames containing the blaze at just under two acres.

San Jose has experienced numerous vegetation fires during the month of May with strong winds challenging firefighters as they work to protect lives and property.
